Is happiness distinct from search of truth

Posted on June 5th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

Many of spiritual gurus like Dalai Lama and several others said true meaning of life is to be happy, some throw a question that

Isn’t precisely happiness what we all want, without exception?

Being a human everyone is born with a tendency to search truth that is along with seeking pleasure. So my question is whether happiness is a distinct entity from search of truth. Are they interrelated, can happiness be achieved while you are searching truth. And why we doubt those happiness? Did you not feel while doing all those actions that generated happiness and then you ask yourself ok..! whats next? is it enough?

Can knowledge of absolute truth bring eternal happiness? Or if you take another path to be happy, how you become happy? is through plugging yourself into physical world.

What is the single boon you ask a deity

Ok lets imagine a situation you are confronting a deity..dont ask why? Simply a deity appears in front of you who has power to fullfill all your desire through one single boon your demand..What you are going to ask?

I am asking this question trough this simple looking example as this can be the most important question in anyone’s real life.  Some examples of what one can demand is;

1  – Immortality through eternal youth-ness – Seems logical as old man pray to God for winding up their remaining life as there is limited scope for them to take joy from material world, their teeth is blunt to break and taste delicious food, their body cant keep up with sexual desire, they cannot roam to receives charms of visiting different places. But if you take it on the other hand they have  done it all breaking the limiting points and they are bored out of it.

2 - Unlimited sex - Sex is the center force driving the living world though not all some forms can propagate and do reproduction through single gender, but when we talk of humans its the most important. Men has tendencies to get most beautiful woman and vice-versa. if you get a chance to do it beyond the limits and with varied mates i am not sure if you continue to like it or start hating that most. For example if you find delicious food you eat more but beyond the appetite if you continue to eat you womit, but again food is bare minimum desire so after some days you again feel longing for the same food if no other option is available.

3 – Become a richest man – Off course one can ask this after all money is the powerful medium in todays world that can bring almost all material things at you. Feeling of owning which can certainly bring you happiness of sort time. I guess if you are not some supernatural fanatic you better ask for this option as you can have access to virtual all resource through it.

4 – Some other boons – depending on age and persons specific tendencies there can be infinite other possibilities, for example a child who is obsessed with super natural cartoon serials can ask ability to fly on the sky, a person who is diseased by long illness can ask good health, A musician, painter or singer can ask to become most popular of his time.

What Nachiketa asked

The reason for throwing this childish sounding question is to realize oneself where they are, for example a person who is hungry for becoming richest man would think that what are these fools wasting single boon for those other demands who he thinks as mediocre. But this thinking is relative as being a observer you will realize that all of them are same if ones boon is meaningless then all of them are meaningless

Now the question here arises what is the most important boon you must ask the realistic side of asking a boon can be adopted in life what should be ones ultimate goal to crave for? The answer to this question can be found in stories written in sacred texts like Vedas and Upanishad.  If you read the story of child Nachiketa what he asked were;

  • Teach me the nature of the Supreme God
  • Who controls the souls after death and Liberation

Here hint is one can ask a boon which is forever and not wasted because you get bored of it after sometime. After all this is only once chance to see a deity and this is only single life you got.

I am not wasting my time

Sometimes this thought heads up in my consciousness…
Am I wasting my limited life and youth wandering through these questions?
They often put a question mark  on my way..
Can I believe things around me and assume them to be as they are?
If the saying “You excel in something as long as believe in that thing” ….true?
If so what to believe and what not to ?
I am work to feed myself otherwise i will die.
I am meet people and talk to them otherwise i will be alone..
I ask to older who already passed through my stage..
They seems have done all worldly things ..yet they don’t seems satisfied..

Sometimes I become so restless seeing what others are doing..!
I am frustrated when I see peoples finding pleasure through things
I take burden of doing what i am not and cant do..
Then I look back when i was baby and discover my true nature..
This leads to me a knowledge that humans are born with limited energy..
And human mind is born with infinite energy to fly.
It can travel one universe to another faster than the speed of light
So we got to pursue only things for which we got inborn thirst..
Otherwise it will lead to deep sorrow..

That is what all spiritual gurus repeated over the time.
“Knowing oneself is the only goal of life”
Following their path has brought great peace and serenity in me..
And this gives me intense satisfaction that I am not wasting my time..
